Crow & Bulman Engineering has always had a keen eye for conceptual changes when the science was solid, always avoiding fashion changes, but always adopting sound, low risk engineering concepts. Examples of major engineering concepts on the leading edge of the profession:

  1. First firm in South Carolina to design a K-12 school with variable flow chilled water hydronics; resulting in substantial energy savings. Seneca High School, Seneca S.C. (1986)
  2. One of the first few firms in the state to design a large ice storage facility: Spartanburg County Library, Spartanburg, S.C. (1993)
  3. First firm in South Carolina to design a K-12 school with independent dehumidified fresh air delivered directly to classrooms: Beech Springs Elementary School, Duncan, S.C. (1994)
  4. First firm in South Carolina to design a K-12 school with ground coupled geothermal heat/cooling. Anderson Mill Elementary School, Spartanburg, S.C. (1996)
  5. Designed the mechanical system for the first LEED certified commercial office building in South Carolina: QS/1 Corporate Headquarters, Spartanburg, S.C. (2003)
  6. One of the first firms in S.C. to incorporate variable air volume controls for single zone air handling systems, resulting in substantial energy savings. Dorman High School (1999).
  7. Crow & Bulman Engineering entered the Building Information Modeling technology in 2008 with the Johnson Business School for USCU campus. Crow & Bulman Engineering is versed and proficient in REVIT design.
  8. The only firm in S.C. to have an energy modeling certification from both the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE).
